| Here is an encounter with a creative effort matured through a confrontation with the artistic questions of our time. An endeavor that invokes a very simple and very private vision that speaks to us of ourselves, of absence and of limits... |

It is strong painting that undertakes to talk of silence and of confinement, that expresses that famous lack of communication. This work, straight to the point but precise, forces us to observe, allows us no peace. The images, lacking entirely any demonstrative aim, are cold but so carnal. They evoke our contemporaries whose pulse we hear. |
| No artistic reference can determine entirely this evolution without concession, where the flat areas of color invade and cloud all space. Of course, we could mention Magritte for the strange motionless silhouettes, Jean Hélion for the faceless yet so familiar humanity, or the disturbing theatricality of Arroyo. |

The compositions of Françoise Rousset are totally innovative, and whether you find them bothersome or moving, indifference is hardly possible. The artists answers any challenge at explaining her work by breaking into a marvelous laugh if one mentions the peaceful softness of her "women's paintings," or the blue nose of one of her characters. A laugh that enjoys having fooled us, beyond all convention. |
| "A painter should never do what people expect of him" André Malraux. | |
| She offers her work like the fruit of a combat she has fought alone - will we be capable of liking it, of hearing it? | |
| This hidden social function of the artist, that influences collective thought and takes it where it prefers not to go, finds in Françoise's work its full sense. |

| It is an invitation to overcome the natural taste for easiness and to open a door towards our apprehensions, toward a world that finds its origin in the invisible. | |
| This return to the basics does not however exclude nostalgia and humor, tenderness and softness. This mirror may be difficult to approach at first, but is surely beneficial. | |
